Ostracod Rising – a giant book in progress

August, 2024

The Getty Museum presents a thematic exhibit every eight years called Pacific Standard TIme, collaborating with institutions throughout Southern California. David Familian has curated Future Tense for the Beall Center for Art & Technology as their contribution to PST 2024, which will explore “the intersections of art and science in a global dimension.”

I’ll be creating a new work for Future Tense, imagining a far distant future beyond the Anthropocene, where ostracods define the geological era. The work takes the form of a large accordion book, hovering in the air and winding its way across the space. Ostracod Rising envisions the end of the Anthropocene and the rise of the tiny ostracod.
